The Geopolitical and Strategic Dimension of the Alexandroupolis Port (20.5.2022)
The increasing importance of the Port of Alexandroupolis as an important hub both for commercial and military transportation was enhanced after the Russia – Ukraine war.
The President of the Port Authority Mr. Hadjimichael analyzed the strategic aspects, as well as the geopolitical parameters related to the Port and the prospects for further development. Professors Vassilis Grammatikas (Director of the Institute) and Nicos Papanastasopoulos (vice-director) touched upon the geopolitical developments that contribute to the importance of the Alexandroupolis port and the general prospects of the region of Thrace as an energy and transport hub, in light of the war in Ukraine and the Greek-Turkish relations.
After the initial remarks, students had the opportunity to express their opinions and ask questions to the speakers.
